  6. This is Amiga release 3.3 of SOX, the Sound Exchange.  It is strictly
  7. an Amiga port of the generic release of SOX r6 patchlevel 11.  I
  8. have attempted to verify that all operations work properly, as they
  9. have in the past, but I cannot be exhaustive on this point.

  11. Documentation is a bit outdated, but the included Unix manuals are
  12. as up-to-date as anyone's.

  14. For those who don't yet know, SOX is intended as a general-purpose
  15. sound file converter.  It is written in (more or less) standard C,
  16. and is not optimized for the Amiga.  It is not fast, but it is
  17. thorough and something of a standard.  SOX handles almost all current
  18. audio formats, and includes a number of nifty effects to boot:
  19.     - 8SVX
  20.     - AIFF
  21.     - .voc
  22.     - Sun/Next (.au)
  23.     - RIFF-WAVE (.wav)
  24.     - several weirdo PC formats
  25.     - anything raw you can imagine
  26.     - high-, band-, and low-pass filter
  27.     - reverse
  28.     - amplify
  29.     - echo
  30.     - vibro
